Most “trend” lists talk about technologies that might matter to businesses some day. We gathered the ones that matter already, because they change obligations, costs or the way customers find you. For each, we note what it means in practice.
1. AI arrives inside the tools you already use
You no longer need a separate program. Email, documents, CRM and accounting software now come with assistants that write, summarise and answer. What it means: check what your current subscriptions already offer before buying anything new, and set rules about which data may be used.
2. Automation that completes whole tasks
We are moving from simple “when X happens, do Y” rules to flows that read an email, understand the request and prepare the order or reply. What it means: repetitive office work is the first candidate, with a person approving before the final step.
3. Cybersecurity becomes an obligation
The EU NIS2 directive, transposed into Greek law by Law 5160/2024, gives many businesses in critical sectors specific duties for security measures and incident reporting. Those not covered feel it through large customers, who increasingly ask suppliers to prove they are secure. What it means: check whether you are in scope and get the basics right: backups, two-step sign-in, patching, staff training.
4. E-invoicing and digital tax obligations
After myDATA, business-to-business e-invoicing is becoming mandatory in Greece in stages, larger companies first and then everyone. What it means: your ERP must connect properly to an e-invoicing provider. If your system struggles, it may be time to modernize it.

5. Cloud, with an eye on cost
The move to the cloud continues, but many businesses find their monthly bills creeping up. What it means: every cloud decision needs a cost estimate over several years and regular checks for unused subscriptions.
6. All your data in one place
The businesses that decide fastest see sales, stock, finance and marketing on one screen without waiting for reports. What it means: connect your systems and build a few indicators you actually look at.
7. Search is changing
Google increasingly shows AI-written answers above the results, and many people now ask assistants like ChatGPT directly. What it means: your site must answer questions clearly, carry proper structured data and be a trustworthy source. More in our article on SEO for businesses.
8. Custom applications become more affordable
Modern development tools make a tailored application faster and cheaper than a few years ago. What it means: if off-the-shelf software forces workarounds, revisit the option of a custom application.
Where to start
You do not need to chase all eight. Pick the ones that affect you now, usually security and tax obligations, then move on. At D.igital t.hinkings we cover the whole range, from IT consulting to digital marketing, for businesses in Thessaloniki, Kavala and across Greece. Talk to us about which ones apply to you.
